Remembering Rick Springer

Remembering Rick Springer and his relentless advocacy for the protection of children and the healing of those who survived childhood sexual abuse in the Catholic Church keeps the flame of his torch burning.

The flashbacks of what that priest did to me that summer day continue to haunt me.

Rick Springer

Rick just didn’t survive clergy abuse. He became an advocate, a champion, and an inspiring leader to countless men and women all over the country.

Rick died on November 15 2014, less than a week after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and after years of suffering from COPD. The day after he died, Kate Bochte put together this video to be played at a memorial gathering to celebrate his life.

Also in this video are survivors and supporters, Therese Albrecht and members of SNAP, Coalition of Concerned Catholics, Voice of the Faithful, and Call to Action – all of who were friends of Rick, who hosted monthly support meetings for survivors.

Remembering Rick Springer

The last time I felt like that was before I was abused.
